Pocket Group Appoints Juan Montes To Board


Continued Growth Leads to Strengthening of Board


Pocket Group Ltd today announced that it has appointed Juan Montes as a non-executive member of its Board of Directors. It also announced that it had appointed Daryn Wober, formerly Business Development Director, as Deputy Managing Director.

With continued strong growth, including a number of worldwide deals and international expansion across Europe and into Africa, Pocket Group identified Juan as someone with the right mix of experience to help manage its international contracts and growth.

Montes brings to Pocket Group his experience as a vice president of both PlayStation Europe and Motorola, plus his time as European Managing Director of JAMDAT, where he built a profitable business and a dynamic sales and marketing organisation.

Managing Director of Pocket Group, Andrew Hull said: “Juan was exactly what we have been looking for to help us continue our rapid European and international expansion. He has already been of great assistance helping with our projects in Africa and as we acquire businesses in the coming months in the UK and internationally, his experience will help us bind them together.”

Daryn Wober has worked at Pocket Group since June 2004 after three years with international sports group IMG. He has helped build the company’s successful mobile music business and expand its strong operator client base. Juan Montes has extensive experience in the field of interactive entertainment where he has set up and managed some of the most successful organisations in Europe. He joined Sony in 1994 as VP of Software Development to prepare for the launch of PlayStation in Europe. He set up the software organisation that managed software portfolio from Sony and 3rd party publishers, also creating and managing Sony’s European software development studios.

In October 2000, Juan Montes joined Motorola as VP of Technology and Content to set up a wireless applications and content publishing business. During the last 2 years he was involved in licensing and bringing through Operators in Europe games like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Trivial Pursuit and Classic Atari games.

In early 2002 he joined JAMDAT Mobile as European Managing Director to set up and manage their European publishing business. He built up a profitable business and dynamic sales and marketing organisation expanding the reach of the US company into all the major channels of mobile distribution in Europe. He also carried out licensing of european brands in the sports field and assistted Corporate with the evaluation and due dilligence of various acquisition targets in Europe. JAMDAT had a very successful IPO in NASDAQ in Sept 2004.

Mr Montes studied an Engineering degree in Madrid University and after moving to England in the mid 70's also obtained a BSc degree in Computer Science.
